Con el tiempo de frío acá en las mañanas estas superficies en el carro estaban demasiadas de frías. Para resolver mi problema, decidí vestir mi carrito con crochet. 

With the cold weather in my neck of the woods it was a bit uncomfortable to touch a cold steering wheel and the gear handle. To fix my problem, I've decided to dress my little car with crochet.

Hace mucho años atrás aprendí del origen de los mandalas y desde entonces he quedado fascinada. Como ya ustedes saben, hace unas semanas aprendí a hacer mandalas de granny no he podido parar te tejerlas. Realmente tienen un significado espiritual difícil de describir. 

Los mándalas son diagramas o representaciones esquemáticas y simbólicas del macrocosmos y el microcosmos, utilizados en el budismo y el hinduismo. Estructuralmente, el espacio sagrado (el centro del universo y soporte de concentración), es generalmente representado como un círculo inscrito dentro de una forma cuadrangular. En la práctica, los iantra hindúes son lineales, mientras que los mándalas budistas son bastante figurativos. A partir de los ejes cardinales se suelen sectorizar las partes o regiones internas del círculo-mándala.

Por otra parte, la mayoría de las culturas posee configuraciones mandálicas o mandaloides, frecuentemente con intención espiritual: la mandorla (almendra) del arte cristiano medieval, ciertos laberintos en el pavimento de las iglesias góticas, los rosetones de vitral en las mismas iglesias; los diagramas de los indios pueblo, etcétera.

Estas mandalas tejidas además de ser una práctica espiritual mientras se tejen, pueden ser muy útiles. Desde alfombritas, manteles y tapetes su uso es muy decorativo y diverso.

Some years back I learned about mandalas and since I have been fascinated with them. Like you all know, recently I learned how to do granny mandalas and since I haven't been able to stop crocheting them. In reality they have a spiritual meaning that is hard for me to describe in my own words. 

Maṇḍala (मण्डल) is a Sanskrit word that means "circle". In the Hindu and Buddhist religious traditions their sacred artoften takes a mandala form. The basic form of most Hindu and Buddhist mandalas is a square with four gates containing a circle with a center point. Each gate is in the shape of a T.

These mandalas, concentric diagrams, have spiritual and ritual significance in both Buddhism and Hinduism. The term is of Hindu origin and appears in the Rig Veda as the name of the sections of the work, but is also used in otherIndian religions, particularly Buddhism. In the Tibetan branch of Vajrayana Buddhism, mandalas have been developed into sandpainting. They are also a key part of anuttarayoga tantra meditation practices.

In various spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed for focusing attention of aspirants and adepts, as a spiritual teaching tool, for establishing a sacred space, and as an aid to meditation and trance induction. According to David Fontana, its symbolic nature can help one "to access progressively deeper levels of the unconscious, ultimately assisting the meditator to experience a mystical sense of oneness with the ultimate unity from which the cosmos in all its manifold forms arises."  The psychoanalyst Carl Jung saw the mandala as "a representation of the unconscious self," and believed his paintings of mandalas enabled him to identify emotional disorders and work towardswholeness in personality.

In common use, mandala has become a generic term for any plan, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically, a microcosm of the Universe from the human perspective.

Crochet-ing these mandalas have been such a spiritual practice for me and in addition I am very well aware that they are very versatile. You can use them as tablecloth, tapestry, little area rug, etc.

Mariposas / Butterflies

Siguiendo el tutorial de las mariposas de Tejidos Perú hicimos estas mariposas en distintos hilos y tuvimos distintos resultados...todos hermosos. 

Mi mamá y yo tomamos un ratito en la tarde del Día de las madres para tejer maripositas. ¡Pasamos un día fabuloso de completa celebración! Fuimos a la iglesia, almorzamos en familia y luego tejimos...

¡FELIZ DIA DE LAS MADRES A TODAS LAS MADRES DEL MUNDO! QUE DIOS LAS BENDIGA SIEMPRE.

Following the tutorial from Tejidos Perú we made butterflies today. We used different yarn and had different results...but all fun and pretty!

My mom and I had a wonderful celebration of Mother's Day with our family. We went to church in the morning, we had lunch and in the afternoon we took some time to crochet butterflies.

Día de las madres / Mother's Day

I was dying to talk about what I was crocheting for mother's day, but I couldn't, as my mom reads my blog and visits my facebook page... so today... taaaa daaaahhhhhhhh!!!! Here they are! I made her two shawls with Salomon's Knot Stitch. She liked them and I'm pretty happy with the end results. 

Me moría de ganas de contarles de lo que estaba tejiendo para mi mamá para el día de las madres, pero no podía ya que ella lee este blog y visita con muchísima frecuencia la página de facebook... así que hoy..... aquí está!!!!!!!!!

Le hice dos chals con el nudo de salomón. A ella le encantaron y yo he quedado bastante satisfecha con el resultado. 

Granny Mandalas

After removing some shelves, I ended up with big screw holes on my wall. They didn't look very nice and wanted a fix to the problem immediately. For quite some time I have been following the blog Crochet with Raymond and I loved these mandalas. I  knew when I first saw them that I wouldn't make pot holders, but something was going to come up... and so it did! The mandalas idea came to me as a wall fixture, something to make it funky, colorful and happy! 

So far I have made two and am planning to do one more, (still to be done). In the meantime, these mandalas make my room so happy that I wanted to share it with you all... ah, and the link to the fabulous tutorial from Crochet with Raymond.

Después de haber removido unas tabillas de la pared, he quedado con unos agujeros de tornillos horribles. Yo quería que mi pared se viera linda de inmediato, así que me vino esta idea. Hace algún tiempo estoy siguiendo el blog Crochet with Raymond y me encanta todo lo que hace, en especial estas mandalas de granny. Cuando las vi supe que yo no haría agarraderas, pero ya se me ocurría algo, porque las encontré muy guapas. Así que con mi problemita de agujeros de tornillos me di a la tarea de hacer estas mandalas de granny para mi pared y he a

quí el resultado. 

Aún voy a hacer una más para tener un total de tres, pero mientras tanto, quise compartir estas con ustedes, porque estoy requete orgullosa de pared ahora.... me hacen sonreir =)

Teje con esperanza... / Crochet With Hope

Para algunas personas el crochet es una forma de ingreso para sostenerse a sí mism@ y a su familia. Para otras es un pasatiempos, un arte que relaja y eleva el espíritu. Sea cual sea la motivación de cada quien para ejecutar tan bella destreza, le respeto y admiro. 

Yo por mi parte hago crochet porque es un don de Dios. Porque un día descubrí que tenía algo de habilidad y que ha sido una gran bendición en mi vida personal. Practicar crochet me ayuda a orar y meditar cuando hago puntadas, me relaja y me hace sentir tan capaz, tan útil con mi manos y me llena de grandes satisfacciones. 

El crochet ha sido algo muy noble para mí y es por eso que no puedo entrelazar el crochet con competencia ni rivalidad y mucho menos malas intenciones de quienes comparan el trabajo de unas con otras para molestar y hacer daño. Cada quién tiene su estilo y cada quien tiene su personalidad y debe respetarse sin hacer competencias y comentarios malsanos y mal intencionados. 

Crochet-ing Away existe como canal para compartir este bello don. Jamás avalaremos que se usen nuestros trabajos para compararlos con el trabajo de otra persona. ESA NO ES LA INTENCION y creemos que quien se presta para semejante acción debe pensar dos veces y analizar cuáles son las verdaderas intenciones del corazón. 

Es por eso que comparto el pensamiento Teje con esperanza. En él está la intención de mi propio corazón al hacer crochet. Ojalá le sirva de inspiración a toda persona que lo lea.

For some people crochet is a way of making a living. For others is a hobby, an art that relaxes and elevates the spirit. What ever your motives for doing crochet, I admire and respect you.

I personally do crochet because it was given to me as a gift from God. I never knew I had this ability until I discovered it not too long ago. Crochet has been such a blessing to me! Crochet allows me to pray and meditate when I do stitches, it relaxes me greatly and it makes me so capable of creating things with my own hands. Its an amazing feeling! 

Crochet has been such a noble thing to me and that is why I can't see it together with competition, rivalry, and bad intentions of people that compare the work of one to another, hurting and creating such bad drama. 

Crochet-ing Away exists as a way to share a great gift from God. We will never allow our work to be compare with others. That is NOT our intention and we think that whoever does that should think twice before engaging in such despicable act and seek deeply what are the intentions of the heart. 

That's why I share with you Crochet With Hope. It reflects the intention of my heart when I do crochet. I hope it inspires you too.

My Mom's Granny Squares / Los granny squares de mi mamá

Mama está trabajando en una manta para el sofá. A juzgar por el tamaño de estos cuadritos creo que va a estar un ratito haciendo cuadritos. Sólo espero que lo disfrute tanto 

como yo he disfrutado viéndolos. 

¡Que siga la tejedera!

My mom is working on a blanket to cover her sofa. Judging by the size of these squares I take it she'll be doing squares for a while. I only hope she enjoys them as much as 

I enjoyed seeing them.

My mom's crochet / El crochet de mi mamá

Visiting my mom today, I was delighted to see her work. She spends a lot of time doing these baby blankets to donate them to babies living in shelters with their mothers, victim of domestic violence. My mom gets a lot of joy out of crocheting these beauties and I am so proud of her. 

May every baby that receives a blanket from my mom be blessed! Amen.

Al visitar a mi mamá hoy, me encantó ver este trabajo. Mi mamá emplea mucho tiempo tejiendo estas sabanitas para bebés para donarlas a bebés viviendo con sus mamás en refugios de víctimas de violencia doméstica. Mi mamá disfruta grandemente hacer estas bellezas y yo estoy muy orgullosa de ella. 

Que cada bebé que recibe una sabanita de estas 

reciba una grande bendición también.

These past days I have been obsessed with the Solomon's Knot stitch. I have watch various tutorials in Spanish and English and found it pretty easy to make but still when I started the scarf I was decreasing stitches without knowing how to fix it. I finally came across to the tutorial in Spanish by www.tejidoperu.com and learned where I was making the mistake. So then, for the 4th time I started again and this is how is going. 

I am having so much time with it. I still don't know how long I'll make it... in the meantime... I will continue to enjoy the ride. 

En los últimos días he estado obsesionada con el nudo de salomón.  He estado viendo videos tutoriales en youtube en inglés y español y lo encontré bastante fácil de hacer. El problema lo encontré cuando empezaba la bufanda, siempre terminaba disminuyendo puntos y no sabía cómo evitarlo. Todo hasta que vi el tutorial de www.tejidoperu.com. Ahora, por 4ta vez, comencé la bufanda y así voy. 

Estoy disfrutando bastante este tejido. No sé aún cuán larga la haré... pero mientras tanto... seguiré disfruntándolo.

Side to Side Scarf

Encontré este patrón en Ravelry.com y decidí hacerlo porque se veía lo suficientemente fácil e interesante de hacer. Vean el link abajo.

También hice un diagrama para el beneficio de quienes se les haga más fácil hacerlo con la imagen visual. 

Como podrán ver, yo le hice una alteración porque encontré que se veía más interesante con los bordes curviados en lugar de rectos como dice el patrón. También le hice el borde de otro color para agregarle interés. 

Este fue un proyecto que hice mientras estuve en casa convaleciendo de una operación de nariz. Fué lo suficientemente sencillo para hacerlo entre ratitos y a la vez mantener mi interés en el proyecto. Esta será una bufando muy buena para usar en tiempo de primavera y en el comienzo del friíto de otoño.
